Brunch at Park on Freemont

November 7, 2016 Shaunte Sahagun

Welcome back Lovelies!

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween I had a lot of fun with my love and friends. Chaz and I dressed as Fred and Wilma Flinstone.  You can see pictures of us on my personal Instagram - @Shaunte.sahagun. I made my costume with the help of my lovely friend Christina; couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out! Now that November is here holiday season has begun. Stores are already bringing out the Christmas decorations… I am not ready for all of that. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but November is a busy month for me to think about December. My lovely boyfriend’s birthday is on the 10th and I am taking him to dinner first at Sake Rok next to the T-mobile area, then to a show called Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil. I will be talking about our experience at Sake Roknext Monday on the blog! I will also be sharing a yummy cake recipe Wednesday - it will be my boyfriend’s birthday cake! Red Velvet YUM! It’s his favorite kind of cake and my goal is to make the best one he's ever had!

This past week I got to catch up with one of my old friends Kelsey Mathews, we decided to have brunch of course and outside since the weather is just so perfect right now.  I wanted to try The Park downtown brunch. It is one of my favorite bars downtown and I never have been inside it during the day… I was very excited to see how they did brunch and let me tell you it’s such a lovely spot. We sat outside in the back where I felt like I was having tea in Alice in Wonderland. It looked so lovely and different all at the same time. The outside area has lovely white tables and wood with flowers and plants surrounding you. At night it’s beautiful as well however the sun shows all the beauty it has to offer. The painting on the walls throughout the bar/ restaurant are very unique and somewhat strange…in a good way; it will be something you have never seen before I can promise you that!

The brunch menu is a smaller menu, but they offer their full menu as well so you can have many options. I love their sweet potato tater tots! Those are on the regular menu, but a must if you crave sweet potatoes like I do! We did the “patio pounder" which is a bottle of Mums champagne and a craft of orange juice, all for $20 it’s the perfect amount for two people. A normal mimosa is $7 a piece so depending how many you plan on having this might be the best deal downtown Saturday or Sunday morning.

We then shared a seasonal fruit cup and ½ inch thick maple bacon, oh bacon it was amazing! We then each got our own main dish; Kelsey had the breakfast burrito and I had the Chilaquiles. Kelsey’s burrito came with a side of chips and salsa and the burrito was huge and as she said delicious and not spicy! I had the Chilaquiles which is like breakfast nachos, you get sliced steak and two eggs how you want them on the side along with tortilla chips topped with melted cheese sour cream and avocado. I had my eggs over easy and steak medium. I placed everything on top of the chips and dug in! With the egg running and bringing all the flavors together it was a sinful yet pleasing breakfast. The steak was the perfect amount for me and marinated just right. I really enjoyed everything and had such a lovely time. The Park is also a sister bar of Common Wealth a bar across the street. It’s my second favorite bar right after The Park - pretty obvious why they are both so unique, but offer great drinks and food and I always have a fun time! The one thing I almost forgot to mention is The Park has a secret back area behind the back area… it is their smoking area and also where they have a teeter totter! I haven’t been on one of those since I was probably six and teetering tipsy is a much better experience! I encourage you on your next downtown visit to stop by and see what this place is all about you won’t forget it.  Thanks for reading lovelies and ill see you Wednesday for some baking goodness!

 Xoxo Shaunté
