Welcome back Lovelies!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great time at Life is beautiful. I had an amazing time and this being my third year going, this year was a little different. This year, I went for pleasure and for work. I want to share a little bit of everything I loved while attending the festival. From the art to the music which is the meat and potatoes of the festival, there was so much yummy food and drinks I enjoyed along the way. (Let’s just say work is play) Today we will talk about the first day I attended it was the longest I spent at the festival. I will be sharing the rest of my experience day 2 and 3 Wednesday so stay tuned Lovely. Day one Friday the 23rd 2016 started off great with the weather nice and cool Fall came at the right time. I attended the festival with my lovely boyfriend and a few friends. I didn’t eat anything purposely before attending so I could have a full appetite. I spoke with 50 shades of Green beforehand (I did a feature on them last week) and they mentioned their new truck with new items like “Chicken rice bowl” I was the first to try it at the festival and it instantly was a food favorite! Juicy shredded chicken, black beans, corn pico de gallo, and rice topped with salsa verde. It was the perfect start to Life is beautiful and just the right amount food to start drinking without feeling too full. We also grabbed food at Cousins Maine lobster truck. I enjoyed 3 lobster tacos with Maine lobster, served with cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro lime sauce, on local handmade flour tortillas. It tastes just like it came off the boat so fresh and flaky.
One of my friends Ally wanted to try out the Fernet-Branca stand we shared “The bitter cold” a frozen blended drink that taste just like mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was dangerously delicious!
We continued to walk around checking out the art and all the different areas you could hang out at. One area that was a big hit was the Pandora room it was lit by neon lights and a DJ spinning top 40 hits, rap and house music, there was never a dull moment. They also offered cool areas to take pictures in their framed Pandora sign with the best lighting ever! It makes you as flawless and Beyoncé at the Grammy’s, it’s every girls picture perfect selfie moment they even will take the photos for you on their ipads to give you the best quality. After snaping and dancing around in Pandora I was of course hungry again! We stopped by to see our friends at Dragon Grill to grab some egg rolls and coconut shrimp. It was the perfect feast to help finish the night.
After eating it was getting close to the time of Tegan and Sara’s performance. I had a media pass for the festival to be able to share with all you lovelies my experience as if you were right there with me. I took photos of their incredible performance performing all my favorite songs. I remember my first time seeing and hearing them. I was watching Degrassi, you know “Drakes wheelchair days” I must have been around 14 or 15 at the time. Well Tegan and Saras music video “The Con” came on and it was instantly a song I couldn’t get out of my head. Seeing them at Life is beautiful was a teenage dream coming true.
I had a lot of fun shooting and watching Tegan and Sara perform. After Tegan and Sara the headliners for the night Mumford and Sons came on I couldn’t be more excited to be up close and personal taking pictures of a band that I can’t stop but falling in love with every album they release. It was a very fun and emotional experience, one I will never forget. After a couple of songs up close I stepped back into the crowd to have the lead singer Marcus Mumford run right past me and jump in the crowd and crowd surf back to stage. It was pretty cool and very rock star status. I would say day one was a total success with the yummy food and great performances. Come back tomorrow Wednesday to hear about day 2 and 3. It’s a feature you won’t want to miss with interviews from top executive chef Ralph Perrazzo of BBD’S and chef Berry S. Dakake of Nine steakhouse. Stay beautiful Lovelies!
